Ohio Star

The Ohio Star is an old block with a lot of versatility.  You can create a block as a candle holder or add sashing and a border to two or more for a table runner.  You will learn to measure and cut with a rotary cutter, make half square triangles and hour glass small squares and then arrange them to create the Ohio Star.  You can then choose a method to quilt your creation.

  •          Two to Four different fabrics, 1/8 yd should be enough for the squares.
  •          1/2 yard fabric for backing
  •          18” x 18” quilt batting for each block.
  •          All purpose thread to match top of fabric

General Supplies:

Sewing Machine (Must have basic working knowledge on machine)

                Rotary Cutter and ruler

Prior to class: Prepare your fabric.  It is the sewer’s preference as to washing or not.  If you choose to wash, it helps to have less fraying by using “pinking” shears to cut the edges of your fabric before washing.  Fabric should be ironed/presses before class.
