Pinwheel Blocks

This class will teach you how to make half square triangles (HST).  This is the very basic block in quilting.  You will be able to see the multiple ways to arrange them to make different designs.  The example is of a pinwheel.  You will measure cut with a rotary cutter, sew press and assemble and quilt your table runner.

1 yard of print for top ends and backing

3/8 yard of coordinate light colored fabric

3/8 yard of coordinate medium colored fabric

3/8 yard of coordinate dark colored fabric

20” x 40” rectangle of quilt batting

All purpose thread to match top fabric

General Supplies:

Sewing Machine (Must have basic working knowledge on machine)

                Rotary Cutter and ruler

Thread, Scissors, Pins and general sewing supplies

Prior to class: Prepare your fabric.  It is the sewer’s preference as to washing or not.  If you choose to wash, it helps to have less fraying by using “pinking” shears to cut the edges of your fabric before washing.  Fabric should be ironed/presses before class.
